All of that fresh mountain air and adventure sports can leave you thirsty. Thank goodness the Nelson area has a good range of local breweries to help you quench that thirst! Here are a few of our favourites…

Nelson Brewing Company

The Nelson Brewing Company is all about producing natural, traditional, full-flavoured ale and organic beer, and it has boasted certified organic status for over a decade now. Located in a heritage building near the fire hall, the Nelson Brewing Company sources local ingredients as much as possible. Pop into the tasting room and sample the Wild Honey Organic Ale or the Hooligan Organic Pilsner.

Torchlight Brewing

Over at Torchlight Brewing, it’s all about environmentally-conscious brewing. Check out the tasting lounge, which offers some rotating beers on tap. Try the Stowaway Stout or the Mountain King Golden Stout as you dine on a stout meat pie or cheese and charcuterie plate.

The Savoy Brewing Co.

Using only local ingredients, the Savoy Brewing Co. serves up several brews that you can sample in the Falls Music Lounge or the Farm Fresh Café. There’s usually around five brews on tap at any given time.

Backroads Brewing Company

Located in the heart of time, the taproom at Backroads Brewing Co serves up craft ales and lagers in a room that was designed to evoke a cozy, backcountry cabin feel. In the summer it’s home to a friendly front patio. Pint of Big Smokin Joe Smoked Baltic Porter, anyone?

The newly renovated Best Western Plus Baker Street Inn is a superb choice for anyone seeking comfortable and convenient accommodation in the heart of the Queen City this spring. The rooms are spacious and elegant and feature free wireless internet, flat screen TV, a fridge and a microwave. It’s pet friendly too!
