From ski-chair speed dating to free avalanche skills training, there’s a lot going on at Nelson’s Whitewater Ski Resort this January and February…

What? AABBS Avalanche Skills Training #1

Where? Friday, January 5
Why? The Avalanche Awareness Beyond Boundaries Society will be delivering this slightly modified version of the CAA approved AST 1. The society board has since provided 12 complete safety equipment packs with all of the necessary backcountry gear. This is a free course for youth with limited capacity and registration is on a first come, first served basis.

What? 3rd Annual Community Day

When? January 12, 2018 - 00:00
Why? Capturing the spirit of the humble beginnings of a handful of local powder enthusiasts that spent endless hours building the lodge that still stands there today, Whitewater has created this unique non-profit event. Locals can ski or snowboard for only a $10 donation split 50/50 between two local not-for-profit organizations: the Whitewater Ski Team and The Civic Theatre. There will also encouraging a non-perishable food item donation to the Nelson Food Cupboard.

What? Winter Carnival & Snowball Apres

When? Saturday, January 20 and Sunday, January 21
Why? There’ll be a tonne of family activities, including a kids’ scavenger hunt, face paining and marshmallow roasting. As part of the apres there will be live music from Kaslo’s Lost Ledge, a buffet dinner at Fresh Tracks Café and a torchlight parade.

What? Skied Dating - Celebrate LOVE Day

When? Sunday, February 11
Why? In celebration of the cheesiest Hallmark Holiday, Whitewater is hosting its first ever Skied Dating event. What is Skied Dating? It’s Summit Chair Speed Dating for those who don’t want to online date. There’s even a prize of a 'date' for two - shared apres specials in Coal Oil Johnny's and some red roses on sale if you really want to go for it.
